Our Federation uses the Read Write Inc scheme developed by Ruth Miskin. It is a well-recognised programme used throughout the country in primary schools. We have chosen the scheme as it develops the children’s understanding of letter formation as they are learning the phonic sounds. It engages with the children through images and rhymes. Be ready to hear your child saying such things as “Maisie, mountain, mountain as you go down Maisie and then over the two mountains”, as they learn new sounds.

Information for parents
The children will also bring home reading books weekly. Parents are asked to read with their children at least weekly. These books will also be read at school each week. The scheme that we use is the Oxford Reading Tree. Meet Chip, Biff, Wilf and Wilma and not forgetting Floppy!
